I'd prefer a Burnout Collection (3, Revenge, Dominator/Legend), but if I had to choose one, it'd be this one. It's basically the perfect action racing game. Not only that, but the majority of people didn't get to even see all the content (Base game+Encore Expansion+ Ultimate Expansion), due to the Ultimate content being exclusive to the Vita, Wii-U, and PC.īurnout 3 - I can't imagine what you could do with this to make it any better. Given that it's one of the best games ever made, it's downright depressing. With the Wii-U eShop being put to bed soon, and the PS3/P/V store being on life support, soon the only official way to play PixelJunk Monsters 1 on console will be the PSP physical release. Remaster: PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate - If you know me, you know I care. Examples: I can't think of any off the top of my head. Examples: Ghost of Tsusghima, No Man's Sky.įree2Play Multiplayer Rerelease - Like the title says, a currently dead multiplayer game is re-released as free2play to get a second chance at life. Next Generation Patch - Game gets a next generation patch, includes 60FPS, 4k, controller features, etc. Why reinvent the wheel, when the audience isn't be served as it is? Examples: Mega Man 8/9, Sonic Mania, Sly 4, Streets of Rage 4, Double Dragon IV, Shenmue 3.
Retro Sequel - More of what you already like. Examples: Driver: San Fransisco, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Halo 4, God of War (2018). Less leaning into old design tropes, but instead learning from the newest games. Modern Sequel - A sequel to an old series, but done in today's style. Examples: Tetris Effect, Oddworld: Soulstorm, Metroid Prime
Reimagining - Taking the core concept, themes, or ideas from the game, and trying to redesign/write it into something similar, but new. Remake - Game is remade from the ground up in a new engine, but strives to be close to the source material, but will deviate a little if need be (eg Adding gamely mechanics from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 into 1+2) Examples: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, Demon's Souls, Shadow of the Colossus, XIII Examples: Katamari Damacy Reroll, Alan Wake Remastered, Uncharted Collection, GTA Trilogy, Chrono Cross: Radical Dreamers Edition. Remaster - Game is released with any of the following: higher resolution, QoL improvements, Higher frame rate, updated models/UI or New platforms. Choose 7 inactive game or game series, and then match them to the items in the topic title: I was thinking about this, after seeing that topic asking what the differences between remakes/remasters are on the front page again.
